Think of a place where you always feel like yourself.

Is there a place where you feel safe, completely relaxed and like you don’t have a worry in the world?

Maybe it’s somewhere you went camping or another country you visited, maybe it’s your own backyard, or maybe it’s a place you haven’t even been to yet.

The goal of a haiku is to say something with as few words as possible.

A haiku is a kind of Japanese poem, always 3 lines in length, with specific rules (that you can break) about what goes on each line:

First line – 5 syllables
Second line – 7 syllables
Third line – 5 syllables

Here’s an example:

Quiet, dark and calm
I turn my reading light off
Let the moment slide
